We as Christians seek comfort in God’s protection and praise Him when He sees us through difficult times. Last evening I had a wonderful conversation with a Christian woman, a friend whom I met during a writing course. I love her faith. She told me that she and her mom read Psalm 91 every single day until her mom passed away last year. They would insert the names of loved ones into the Psalm and pray through it. Now she reads it twice a day. I’ve spent some time with it this morning; how have read through this every year and not highlighted it, bookmarked it, or anything?
Charles Spurgeon wrote:
“In the whole collection there is not a more cheering Psalm, its tone is elevated and sustained throughout, faith is at its best, and speaks nobly.”
I’m sharing two verses today, and I’ll share a few more from Psalm 91 on Thursday. Please read the whole chapter, though.
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
Psalm 91:3-4 NKJV
Praise God for His protection!
Please join me this week in praying Scripture to our Heavenly Father, and in singing His praises! Meditate on Scripture and give thanks for His wondrous mercy, grace, and love.
