There Will Be Signs

I know every generation has thought that their generation was the one that would witness the Second Coming of Christ, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if it happened during our lifetime. We’re told in the Bible that “there will be signs.” I believe we are seeing those signs unfold.

“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Luke 21:25-28

There will be signs in our attitudes, how we think and act.

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth

It’s just the beginning

Matthew 24:8 tells us, “All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.” (Read all of Matthew 24).

So when I see headlines such as those this past week that say, “record number,” “unprecedented,” “historic,” it makes me sit up and take notice.

If Jesus returns tomorrow, are you ready?

Please join me this week in praying for the victims of the tornadoes that devastated six states this past weekend and at least three states the other night. Let’s pray for their healing and restoration. Pray also that they will seek comfort in Jesus Christ and that unbelievers will come to know Him through this experience. Let’s also pray that communities and families come together to help and love one another in a way that will be a blessing to the victims. Pray that the missing people are found.
