Seeing the Light

A spotlight on the left, shining a beam of light into the darkness. The words from 2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV , "In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

The “god of this world” (Satan) keeps unbelievers from seeing the light of the gospel. He causes them to have closed minds so they won’t be receptive to hearing or recognizing truth. In my FaceBook prayer group “Pray In The Stillness,” I post the same things I share on my blog. Once in a while, something will come up that I’ll just post there, though. For instance, last week, it was brought to my attention that a group “inspired” by (their term) a satanic organization is going to be holding an after-school “club” once a month in a Lebanon elementary school. (You can read up on it by clicking here.)

I received two responses to posting this information from people who are obviously satan followers. The first person I blocked because he posted a link to another satanic group. The second person very politely asked that we educate ourselves about the situation. So, I read everything I could find out about the after-school program and it seems, on the surface, to be “safe” but isn’t that what satan would want us to believe?

What I found

Their logo is a cartoonish devil’s face and supposedly they don’t even believe in Satan. They contend that they won’t try to convert anyone that they’re just there to counter a Christian group that also has an after-school club at this same school. I didn’t research the Christian organization. We’re supposed to believe all of this when it’s the Satanic Temple who is behind these clubs. My first husband used to say, “If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then, it’s a duck.”

Anyway, I’ve been rather upset about all of this. One of the women in the FB prayer group has children at that school which brings it even closer to home for me. I’ve been paying attention to all of the different emotions it’s causing in me: fear, anger, panic. Because of this, I want to spend this week focused on prayer for the children, school, parents, and staff of Donovan elementary school. I want to pray for Christians to feel bold in their faith and to share the gospel openly, so we’re going to highlight how to do that this week also.

“Satan may hold your soul like a strong man armed — but Jesus is stronger than he, and when He commands, the prisoners must go free. Oh, if any troubled reader wants a calm within — let him go this day to Jesus Christ, and all shall yet be well!”

Bible Verse of the Day

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV

Prayer

Lord, I pray that You open the eyes of unbelievers so that they may see the light of the gospel, the glory of Christ, Who is the image of God. Lord, I pray that we, Your children, share the gospel freely and bring many to experience the joy and peace that comes from having a personal relationship with You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
