The Gospel

A picture of Jesus on the cross. Across the top it says, "The Gospel:"
The words from 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NKJV, For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures," and then the words from Romans 10:9-10 ESV

I think we make out the Gospel to be more complicated than it is, as far as sharing it. If you watch Ray Comfort’s video (below), you’ll see how he simply asks questions and then tells the young man that Jesus died for his sins. Paul shares the Gospel in just two verses in 1 Corinthians. Unbelievers need to know that Jesus did this for them. Then, they need to know what they need to do in order to be saved.

The Gospel

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NKJV

To be saved is a 2-step process:

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Romans 10:9-10 ESV

You must

  1. confess with your mouth AND
  2. believe in your heart

There were witnesses

and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

1 Corinthians 15:5-8 NKJV

I recently downloaded the 3-circles app. It makes sharing the gospel as easy as looking at your phone.
If you’re unfamiliar with the 3-circles, you can watch this video.

Pray

Lord, please give us the encouragement and words to share the gospel with everyone You bring to us. We know it is not Your wish that anyone should perish, but that all would come to know You. Please show us our spiritual gifts and how to use them to Your glory and purpose. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
