The Holy Spirit Stirring Within

A pen and ink hand drawn picture of the tabernacle's Ark of the Covenant. The words are from 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV, "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."

I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to review books by Moody Publishers. The first book I’m reading is Approaching the Almighty, 100 Prayers of A.W. Tozer, Compiled by Phil Shappard.* These prayers are an answer to our refilling prayer. Tozer’s words are so passionate and so moving I can feel the Holy Spirit stirring within.

“Grant we may be invested, rather than wasted and spent. Invest Lord. May these investments, may we invest ourselves, not at six percent nor eight percent nor twelve percent, but a percent so often compounded and so infinitely multiplied that the angels couldn’t keep the books, if we invest ourselves.” (page 35).

Invest ourselves! How are we investing ourselves? Are we focusing on our Heavenly Father in every aspect of our lives? I wonder, are we leaning into Him instead of pulling away? Are we reading and studying Scripture, praying for wisdom, for our eyes to be opened and our hearts to be softened?

The Memory of Creation

“We bless Thee, O Triune God. We praise Thee, O blessed Holy Ghost, the conscience of the world that still keeps dimly alive the memory of the world from which we fell.” (page 17)

This made my heart leap! Just as we’re told that we’re the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16), those who have the Holy Spirit stirring within perhaps have a small pinhole view into Eden, into what may be found in the new earth. The Holy Spirit was there in the beginning, and He’s here within. How amazing is that thought, that connection???

I can just feel this refilling taking place. Can you? I’m more focused on God, on His instructions as He guides me through each day. It’s given me a renewed sense of peace and joy that comes from having an intimate relationship with the Triune God. Seek Him. Ask and it will be given. Knock and the door will be opened (Matthew 7:7-8).

Bible Verse of the Day

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV

Prayer

Father God, we come before You in all humility, asking that You refill each of us with the Holy Spirit. We know we are sealed with the Spirit, but at times such as these, it’s easy to feel empty. It is during times such as these that we come to you desperate and needy. We are but empty vessels, Lord. Please refill us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
