Unfulfilled

Three palm trees close together in the middle of a dessert. The words from Isaiah 29:8 ESV, "As when a hungry man dreams he is eating and awakes with his hunger not satisfied, or as when a thirsty man dreams he is drinking and awakes faint, with his thirst not quenched, so shall the multitude of all the nations be that fight against Mount Zion."
by Beeda Speis for Peace in the Stillness

I had a strange, troubling dream last night. Sitting here reflecting on it, and praying for interpretation, I believe my heart was trying to tell me something. My initial thoughts upon waking were that:

  • Satan was attacking me through my dreams but I was able to win the battle.
  • My faith and focus were being tested.
  • My fleshly desires versus God’s will for my life were at odds.

Words aren’t coming easily this morning. My head is killing me and I’m just not able to focus. So let me just share today’s bible verse:

As when a hungry man dreams he is eating and awakes with his hunger not satisfied, or as when a thirsty man dreams he is drinking and awakes faint, with his thirst not quenched, so shall the multitude of all the nations be that fight against Mount Zion.
Isaiah 29:8 ESV

“[The nations] will be like a man who dreams of food but wakes up hungry. They will dream of fulfillment but be unfulfilled.”

Pray

Father, we come to You in awe of your love and grace toward us. We are so thankful that You sent Your only Son to take on our sins so that we may enjoy a personal relationship with You. Father, we ask that You touch the hearts and minds of Your children who are feeling unfulfilled during this season of uncertainty. Please give them/us the desire to seek out a stronger relationship with You and go to You humbly in prayer to discern Your will. We pray that lives not be wasted in aimless pursuits of the flesh but that Your children seek to embark on Your will for their/our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
