Proclaim the Good News

A photo of an open scroll with the words from Luke 4:17-19 ESV, "And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.”

I saw an ad on FB for Christian conversation starter cards. Several people used the lol emoji in response and I have to admit, I laughed when I saw them, too. But, after I left the site, I was still thinking about them. Wouldn’t that be a great way to gain confidence? It’s like practicing to proclaim the Good News.

Actually, last night I watched a documentary on the brain and it may be obvious, but practicing something not only conditions body parts, increases confidence, and makes us better at the thing, but it also conditions our brains.

Remember using flashcards as kids? Remember how much easier it was to learn that way than from our notes?

What I’m getting at is if we have tools at our disposal and we’re struggling to proclaim the Good News, it’s okay to use those tools. It’s a really good idea to do so because sharing the gospel is the most important thing we can do. Our Pastor shared it very simply last Sunday:
“Jesus came and died for you. He became flesh…He’s forgiven all of your sins for all time if you will just yield yourself to Him.” Pastor R. Rench

Continuing with the words of J.C. Ryle:

From the Chapter titled, Unsearchable Riches!
Let me leave this branch of my subject with an earnest request that all who pray will never forget to make supplications and prayers and intercession for the ministers of Christ, that there never may be lacking a due supply of them at home and in the mission field, that they may be kept sound in the faith and holy in their lives, and that they may take heed to themselves as well as to the doctrine (1 Timothy 4:16).

Bible Verse of the Day

And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Luke 4:17-19 ESV

Please Pray

Please join me in praying for our missionaries and our pastors and ministers. The young missionary family had to delay their plans. Most of them had the flu. Please continue to pray for them, for their flight(s), for their journey. Continue to pray for Ukraine and for peace.
