Prayer and the Word

Beeda Speis posts to her blog every day, but some days, due to time constraints or writer’s block, all she can share is a prayer and the word. Somedays, it may just be a Bible verse or passage.

It’s her prayer that the Bible verse will be the exact one that a reader needs to read at the exact time the reader needs to read it. God’s sovereignty is over all things, and all things work to bring Him glory.

It’s through prayer and being in the word that we draw closer to God. Taking that time to be still and focus only on Him allows us to build a more intimate relationship with our Father.

Prayer Revival

Yesterday began the SBC PrayerLink Convention. I was only able to attend one session virtually, but it was really enlightening. Some questions were raised, “What direction is God moving us in?” “What is He telling us to do?” These were asked as they relate to our small group and to the Church as a whole, […]

The Model Prayer

Jesus taught the disciples how to pray. In Matthew 6:5-8, He tells them not to pray like the hypocrites, aka the Pharisees. They prayed in public with long, loud, repetitive/rehearsed prayers to bring attention to themselves. Their prayers did not honor God nor bring Him glory. Up until about ten years ago, I never prayed

Your one

The Pastor reminded us this week to continue to pray for “your one.” The one person in your life (or two) who your heart aches for their salvation. I never heard it called that before, “your one,” but I really like that phrase. It’s assigning responsibility to each of us to pray for one or

The Unforgiving Servant

The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant “Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Therefore the kingdom of heaven

Pray for those who hurt you

Sometimes the people who hurt me the most are those closest to me. Maybe that’s true for most adults. While we’re in school, or even within a work environment, bullies and mean, horrible people may make our lives miserable. I feel like they are easier to deal with (or get over) than loved ones who
