God will provide

Yesterday I tweeted:
I see that GOD WILL PROVIDE is trending…it’s true; He will provide, but we have to accept what it is He’s giving us. He is a loving and giving God who provides for His children. Open your eyes and hearts to the bounty.

The responses I got were these:

  • Which God?
  • Why does God always have to be a HE?
  • Since when does someone loving and giving drown an entire planet because they aren’t worshipping him/her enough?
  • Firetruck, boat, helicopter. Time for them to GET IN THE *** BOAT!!
  • Matthew 19 26 says, With God all things are possible.

I thought it was an interesting mix. You have people in the world who don’t know anything about God or the Bible. There are those who know the Bible but don’t dig in to understand it. (In fact, they would rather use their limited knowledge to argue against Christianity, rather than learn the answers to their questions.) Then there are those who are the children of God.

God provides us with what we need, but too often our want exceeds our need. He may provide us with an income so we can buy food, but it may not be enough to eat out three meals a day (which isn’t healthy anyway). We need to use what God gives us in a responsible manner.

This verse really helps me understand God’s provisions:

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
Philippians 4:11-12 ESV

Paul wrote that while in prison, yet he was content. He didn’t want of anything.

Please join me this week in praising God for His provisions. Pray that we may be image-bearers for Christ and that others will see our thankfulness for what God provides. Pray that God uses us to soften the hearts of the unbelievers we meet, that we can be a light, shining the way to knowing Him and resting in His grace and mercy.
