When I think of Ruth, I think of loyalty and faithfulness. She gave up everything to accompany her mother-in-law home to the land of Judah.
Ruth gave up her homeland, family, friends, neighbors, and religion to travel to a land where she would stand out as being “different;” a land and a people she knew nothing about. She committed to worshipping her mother-in-law’s God.
Bible Verse of the Day
But Ruth said:
“Entreat me not to leave you,
Or to turn back from following after you;
For wherever you go, I will go;
And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people,
And your God, my God.
Where you die, I will die,
And there will I be buried.
The Lord do so to me, and more also,
If anything but death parts you and me.”
Ruth 1:16-17 NKJV
There’s so much more to Ruth’s story, of course, but the theme that’s shining through these women is their faithfulness. God blessed them for their obedience and faith by placing them in the lineage of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Father, may we all be obedient to Your calling. May we all demonstrate our faithfulness in You and in Your plan for each of our lives. May our lives bring You glory. Please bless the women listed below. Guide them, Lord. Speak to their hearts. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
