It’s time to offend

A blueish-green smoke with a light that looks angelic. The words to James 4:5b NKJV, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”

In this world when no one wants to offend their neighbor by “pushing” their religion on them, we need to remember the offense that will take place on judgment day. It’s time to push. It’s time to offend.

To those who’ve been given the gifts of evangelist, and/or prophesying: hallelujah! We, your brothers and sisters in Christ, are amazed by your gifts. Truly, you’re putting God first in everything you do. For those of us with different gifts, we, (I believe I can speak for all or most of us) feel a tug of torment when presented with an opportunity but find ourselves without words.

Ask the Holy Spirit

Maybe it’s because we’re not meant to speak during those situations, but rather to act. Maybe those are opportunities to serve, teach, encourage, give, lead, or show mercy. We should say a prayer and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance before doing or saying anything in a situation like that. If we feel Him tugging but don’t know what He wants us to do specifically, we can ask Him. Even if it means excusing ourselves for a second.

I believe our relationship with the Holy Spirit should be a partnership. In other words, we shouldn’t act alone. We should check in with Him first. The more we put God first, the clearer the conversations become.

Paul was truly gifted. He did not hold back. He didn’t worry about offending anyone because he was out there to save souls.

Bible Verse of the Day

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

James 4:4-8 NKJV

Prayer

Father, may we develop a more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit who resides within each of us. May we take full advantage of His presence, His wisdom, allowing Him to guide us to always put You first, to always do Your will. May we develop a deep, intimate relationship with Him and turn to Him in all situations, thereby drawing closer to You. We pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
