Pray For Those With Cancer

A buttlerfly sitting on a pink daisy. Above, the sun is shining through a dark cloud. The words to Isaiah 53:4,6, NKJV, "Surely He has borne our sicknesses And carried our pains...And by His stripes we are healed." This week let's pray for those with cancer.

Please pray for those with cancer. In 2020. Cancer was the leading cause of death worldwide claiming nearly 10 million lives. Another website said that heart disease was the leading cause of death in 2020. 6.3 million people worldwide have died as a result of Covid-19. I can’t tell you how many brothers and sisters our church family has lost since 2020, but it has to be disproportionally high compared to any other time period.

I don’t share this information to depress you but rather to encourage you to be earnest in your prayers for those who are ill. I want to ask that you pray for some people on our prayer chain this week. First, there’s Tiffany – a woman with young children. She has pancreatic cancer. It is most likely terminal. I know her mother. She’s a strong woman who has lost so much family over the past several years that I honestly don’t know how she’s able to face each day except that she loves Jesus, and leans on Him. She told me that she absolutely cannot lose her daughter. Please pray for hope, healing, and a miracle.

Unbelievers use life events like this as an excuse not to follow Jesus. They ask, “how can a loving God allow sickness, suffering, and death?” Sometimes it’s difficult to explain it to them because they don’t understand that we live in a fallen world. They don’t understand or even believe in Adam and Eve and therefore don’t believe that man chose this life. Man gave up paradise and direct fellowship with the Creator so he could become “like God” (Genesis 3:5). Man chose death over life (Genesis 2:17).

The Good News is that we have a Savior.

Bible Verse of the Day

Surely He has borne our griefs [sickness]
And carried our sorrows [pains];
Yet we esteemed [reckoned] Him stricken,
Smitten [struck down] by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded [pierced through] for our transgressions,
He was bruised [crushed] for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes [blows that cut in] we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him [has caused to land on Him] the iniquity of us all.

Prayer

Father in Heaven, we pray desperately for healing for Tiffany. Lord, please give her the miracle that only You can give that she may continue here on earth beside her mother and be able to care for and raise her children. Father, please grant Tiffany and her family peace and hope during this trying time. Encourage them to keep their focus on You alone, Lord. Please be with the doctors and medical team that is treating Tiffany and guide them to find a way to cure her. We ask these things in Jesus’ most precious name. Amen.
