Prince of Peace

A picture of a manger and a picture of a cross. Bible verse from Isaiah 9:6
"For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Christ came to serve mankind (Matthew 20:28, Mark 10:45, John 13:1-17). It was the plan from the very beginning as we see in Genesis 3:15. What a blessing to have such a loving and merciful God. When I think of the names mentioned in Isaiah 9:6, I see loving attributes of His nature. I see Christ as “Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Meditate on those names and see Christ in those roles. See His love and grace.

“…When we are inwardly tossed by various tempests, and when Satan attempts to disturb our consciences, let us remember that Christ is The Prince of Peace, and that it is easy for him quickly to allay all our uneasy feelings. Thus will these titles confirm us more and more in the faith of Christ, and fortify us against Satan and against hell itself.”

John Calvin

Bible Verse of the Day

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 NKJV

Pray

Join me this week in praying with thanksgiving for God’s love and mercy. Pray that Christians all over the world focus on God alone and in so doing find that peace that only comes from a relationship with Jesus. Pray that peace shines through like a beacon in the storm for others to see and desire to have for themselves. Pray to be that light for Christ to the world.
