Resurrection Sunday

A white cross against a white background with purple lilies surrounding it. The words "Celebrate Resurrection Sunday" are in purple.

I prefer to call today Resurrection Sunday instead of Easter because it’s believed that Easter refers to the pagan goddess of fertility, Eostre, thus the chicks, and bunnies. My husband wrote a guest blog post about it in 2020. I find myself saying “Easter” because it’s just easier, but how easy was it for Jesus to endure the pain and suffering on the cross?

I hope you’ll take two minutes and read what my husband wrote by clicking here: Resurrection Sunday versus Easter.

Resurrection Sunday vs. Easter

What message are we sending?

Do you remember trying to reconcile Easter as a child? What does the easter bunny have to do with Jesus? Why do we color eggs? Here’s a video I like to share so we can get the perspective of a 3-year-old girl:

I’m not judging. I get it and treasure the easter memories from my youth and when my daughters were small. But, I would just feel remiss if I didn’t share this information.

Today

For today, find some time to spend with Jesus. Thank Him and praise Him. I wish words could do justice to the true meaning of today.

I am so grateful for what God has done, for what Jesus has done. Words can’t describe the intensity of my feelings toward such a loving and merciful God. That He would sacrifice so much for me (and for you). I agape love You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.
