Christian Living

Beeda Speis’ daily devotional-type posts which often include her thoughts and feelings on a certain subject. Each post features a Bible verse of the day and suggestions for prayer.

Each week, beginning on Monday, she chooses the main theme and finds related Bible verses which she shares in her FaceBook prayer group, Pray In The Stillness (formerly 7th Hour Prayer Power). Come along beside her to pray together on a specific topic, need, or group of people.

She asks everyone to set aside time to be still and focus all of their attention on their conversation with God, talking to Him but also listening.

I believe that through the power of prayer, we can draw closer to our Father, glorify Him, and make a difference in the lives of others.

Good Luck To You

A week and a half ago, I took an unexpected trip to Mississippi to see my daughter. The trip was a learning experience that opened my eyes to several specific things that are wrong with the world today. I believe they all fall under the heading of “compassion,” or rather, “lack of compassion.” We’ll see […]

Forgiving Enemies

I just watched a short video interview of a young woman from Christian Aid Ministries. She said that they, (the group, family, and friends of those kidnapped in Haiti) forgive the captors. I would have had trouble understanding that if it weren’t for the stories I read just last night in “When Faith is Forbidden.

What is the value of a life?

Back in the 1970s, the Ford Pinto was mass-produced knowing full well that it could/would catch on fire if rear-ended. Ford did a cost analysis and determined that an $11.00/vehicle repair would be more expensive than potential lawsuits from burn victims and their families (See The Pinto Memo). They underestimated the number of victims. I’ve

A Pastor’s Job Description

I’ve read and re-read the passage below and am just amazed, although I shouldn’t be, how much this sounds like the present times even though it was written somewhere between A.D. 64 and 65. It makes me appreciate even more the burden that our Pastors bear. See if you can eliminate some of his burdens

Hatred of the World

Up until a few years ago, I was a “theistic evolutionist.” My husband talked till he was blue in the face to change my mind, but I was stuck in my views. Then, I actually read Darwin’s book (well, a little of it). I never had before. I just based my beliefs on what my
